By redandblack February 4, in Relationship Advice. A friend of mine 22 years old just started dating a girl who is 16 years old. I am almost 23, so it's really difficult for me to separate myself from the situation, having known both of them for a length of time I've known my guy friend since middle school and met her roughly a year ago and the fact that as I get older age differences seem to lose their meaning. I haven't talked to my friend about this relationship, yet, because I'm not exactly sure where I stand.
However, I do have a few concerns. He, being older than 21, buys her and her friends alcohol from dating to time. He doesn't have a job, doesn't go to school, and stays at her house several nights a week. He doesn't have a form of transportation besides a bike, so when it gets late he just wants to stay over, I'd guess. The reason most people are against it is because usually with such a big gap the two people are at such different times in their life.
Now, for my ex and I that wasn't the case he was extremely immature and I was extremely mature for our age unfortunately it turned out bad because while I matured even more as I got older he did not and that became a problem. That would be the "general" problem people have with age gaps. As far as the other "problems" come the legal issues. Depending on where you live it could be a HUGE problem for him.
Now why would this girl want to be with a guy who has no job, car, and doesn't work that is beyond me but then again maybe that's why they old along so well? As for the buying alcohol, he can get into serious trouble for that does he not realize? Given, they're going to do it anyway but still.
I’m 16 and I’m dating someone who is 22, but the relationship feels healthy. Is this OK?
My concern isn't the age gap but the year that the girl is only I am in my mid twenties and I can't imagine wanting to date someone who is still in high school I would be at a totally different maturity level and have nothing in common with the person. In addition, depending on where the people involved live, there may be legal restrictions on such a relationship. Anyway, I would say that someone who is 16 is not yet an adult so is in no place see more to visit web page in a romantic relationship with an adult.
They still need time to mature and grow into an adult, time to old a lot about what it means link be an adult and have a mature relationship.

Not to mention, there is a high possibility of being taken advantage of by someone older when you are still in your formative teen years. This can be sexually or in other ways. Well I don't think it's age gap relationships people have a problem wiht for the most part But people would probably have a problem with this one because she's under age. I am sitting here thinking about this, and the first thought to come into my head is "Wow, if I was 23 and dating a 16 year old I would feel like I was babysitting.
Not only is it illegal assuming they are sleeping together but if he's buying her alcohol there's another problem. I just re-read the original post. All of the things you mention no job, doesn't go to school, buys his gf alcohol makes me feel like he is not dating women his age because they think they can do better and his year old gf gets to have a "cool" older guy year buy her and her friends liquor.
Sounds like there is a lot more wrong year than just an age gap. If so, why on earth are her parents letting dating stay there overnight? That's exactly what I was thinking about him not working, nor having a car, etc. Hell I thought it was cool as ever to be dating a guy who could buy year alcohol, it was awesome! That's just. My parents flipped out when my ex would even be at my house past a certain time because of his age, even after we had a kid together my dad still wouldn't allow us to sleep in the same bed if he did stay over.
The age gap isn't the problem. The fact that she is underage is the BIG problem. She's only sixteen years old. Her mindset will change dramatically when she hits about eighteen. I just don't think a developing teenager is mature enough to be with someone who has already experienced adulthood and then some. She can't even legally make her own decisions.
Her bf is a pervert if you ask me. A lot of the times in these kind of relationships, the older person is manipulating the minor.
How do I know if my relationship is healthy?
Manipulation leads to sex and sex leads to babies. We already have enough children in this world without a stable home, so we really don't need more. I think that your https://passive-income.info/plugtalk-onlyfans.php needs to seriously get a life. He is go here to end up screwing this girls mind up.
She's only sixteen. He's stealing her innocence. At that age she's supposed to be out skating and do extracurricular activities, not laying up under some grown low-life man who only wants her for sex. There's old thing more she can give him. She's not mature enough to make the decision of whether or not she loves this man.
He's just ruining her life. I don't find year situation acceptable and I am against it all the way. I think you should report this guy, because he shouldn't be having sexually relations with an underage person. It's not right. I dont think theres anything wrong with an age gap in relationships as long as the two people involved are of legal age. Not in the slightest. If you are 40, and your partner is But is practically like dating an alien from mars as far as maturity goes.
He should look up the laws in his state since it may be illegal for him to date a 16 year old. It's definitely illegal to provide her with alcohol. I havn't really researched it at all but it seems like 16 going out with someone past 18 is a no go, does anyone know what the law generally is? There isn't a "general" law, especially if he lives in the States.
The only thing that would be considered illegal in every state is the providing her with alcohol. That is serious trouble for him. I just don't get how a minor is even able to make that kind of decision?
She's so young. He's really only taking advantage of her. Where are HER parents?! In the U. This girl is still a minor at the age of 16, and this guy is an adult. He could land up in jail.
Her parents allow him to stay over? Being a parent myself, I would never allow such a thing given their ages. And, no, I'm not one of those "uncool" moms. I just abide by the laws. I would be concerned that he buys her and her friends alcohol, seems to be doing nothing with his life, and the fact that her parents allow him to stay over. There's something wrong with this picture! Honestly, I don't know what you can do about it.
You can say something to him like "Maybe you should date someone your own age because I'm worried you may land up going to prison because you're dating a minor and buying her alcohol," but then again, he's an adult.
Sometimes people have to learn the hard way. It's true that this is not old "problem" at all, however I've been friends with him since middle school and consider him one of my closest. I'm just curious as to whether or not I should discuss anything with him.
Also, I wouldn't say that he wants her simply for dating. I'm not sure that they have had sex yet, although I am fairly sure that she is not a virgin. Not that it truly matters either way. IMO, who is really to say an 18 year is more capable of making a decision than per-se a 16 year old is some instances.
Given, yes, in this as well as most other situations the guys or women, they do it as well are just taking advantage of the younger partner but that isn't always the case. I don't buy it one bit. Why else would he be with her? To buy her alcohol? Ok, and please don't bash me for old.
I dated older guys and never had sex with them when I was her age!! While I think the relationship is wrong because of the facts i'm hearing it isn't fair to assume that just because their is age difference that they're automatically having sex, know what i mean? I just think this guy is extremely immature and is just with year girl because girls his age won't have anything to do with him because he lacks so much that the old world requires. It's alot easier to please a 16 year old than it is a woman his own age. Oh, don't worry about it.
