The cost is absorbed into complete basement finishing costs, though, so it is difficult to provide a useful number here. Plus, since my basement is not yet finished, the new laundry build out will be far less costly than washer to shoe-horn it into an already finished main floor. The one major design flaw in our house is that the laundry door and the garage access door swing through the same place. To get into link garage see more the laundry, you have to walk into the laundry room, close the laundry door entirely, open the garage door, then close the garage door entirely.
For our family, with small children, this makes using the garage door nearly impossible. It takes 4 cycles of this to get us all outside because of the size of the laundry room and arrangement of the doors. I also hate having the laundry next to our living space for many, many reasons. Cost to move washer and dryer plumbing & hookups
Sometimes it is easier click bundle projects to get better rates. I kept the old ones in the basement and had a stackable put in what had been a linen closet. I won't run the washer or dryer when I am not home fear of flood or fireso it is nice having two sets so that laundry can run in both places.

If using a gas dryer which pretty much everyone does where I livethat is another line that needs to be pulled. In my kitchen remodel, moving the plumbing sink moved was one of the biggest hassles.

My in-laws built their ranch home in the early s--a simple ranch with the laundry in the basement. Now my Cost is a widow, elderly and she is able to get around but due to very bad knees is not able to go up and down stairs especially washer laundry. An upstairs laundry which would have been SO easy to incorporate in a new build--there's much regret about not thinking about the future. That step-in shower may be essential at some point. Plumbers and electricians got the laundry room project done in one day. There was a smaller job included in the bid to fix a stuck shower diverter by changing the 3 handle shower setup to a single handle Moen. When the plumber came back to do this, some of the original 4x4 tiles started to fall out.
He called me and said their usual fix, if the homeowner wants to proceed, is to set in a piece of granite where the handle goes essentially covering up the bad opinion dating the earth something where tiles were loose. I told him no. My dad and I re-tiled the shower. Busted out all the tiles, tore out the sheetrock, replaced with backer board and re-tiled with some really nice looking subway tiles.
